CEO

I spent more than 15 years supporting, designing and then producing digital educational content, before moving into management. I started my career helping teachers as a technical support assistant, giving me great insight into what they really need from educational content, prior to joining Haremi in 2008 (back when there were only three employees!).

I became CEO of Haremi in 2021, leading its transition to employee-ownership at that time. My main area of focus is the financial management of Haremi and, along with the rest of the senior leadership team, driving the culture of the business and delivering sustainable growth for its employee-owners.

I’m still pretty hands-on though, speaking to customers about new projects and helping to get them up and running smoothly. My technical support days aren’t entirely behind me.

Anita Harper

Since joining Haremi I have worked across many projects as a Senior Project Manager, and as Strategy Director I'm helping to lead Haremi into our new chapeter as an employee-owned business.

I try to put myself in the place of our customers. Having been an employee of learning companies in the past, I understand their processes, and the challenges they may be facing, so I try to provide workable solutions to achieve success.

I have nearly 20 years' experience in the education and publishing industries. I’ve worked in sales, marketing and editorial leadership roles at McGraw-Hill Education, the Open University Press and LEGO® Education. I’m also a governor at Activate Learning, one of the UK’s largest trusts of schools and colleges.

Haremi's customers work in education, so they’re in the business of helping people develop and grow. I love supporting our customers’ own growth and development by helping them to make a difference to future generations of learners.

I've spent 14+ incredibly rewarding years developing my career in education and publishing. I’ve held a variety of roles at global educational publishing houses within sales, marketing and editorial teams and I've recently returned from a decade stint working abroad. My role as Product Manager can be varied depending on a project's requirements. It's key to understand and appreciate a customer's needs from Day One: I enjoy learning about their vision and the positive impact they are aiming to achieve. Whatever role I play on a project, it's always important to have a bit of fun along the way!

Alice McKane

I studied Education and Psychology at university. I enjoy that as a Project Coordinator I can work autonomously but also as part of a wider team.

Being a sociable team means we can approach anyone with questions and there is always cake in the building which is a big plus! I enjoy having the opportunity to work on a variety of projects and being able to learn from colleagues who have experience working in different learning industries.

I completed a variety of publishing internships before joining Haremi, including volunteering as a Commissioning Editor for my university's magazine. Every day at Haremi has provided me with an opportunity to learn something new as there is so much variety to the work.

I’ve had various roles in educational publishing since 2014 and I'm currently an Editor. My favourite Haremi projects have been those where I've been working with authors who know their stuff but might be less experienced. It’s rewarding to help make an author's vision into a tangible resource that will support people in their learning journey.

I like it when I can contribute to a project that’s unique in some way, so if a task needs creativity or if my background lets me fix tricky issues.

I’ve recently been promoted to the role of Project Coordinator, having originally joined Haremi as an Editorial Assistant. Before that I worked as a bookseller so I’ve seen the final steps in the educational publishing industry: the sale of the books, and I’ve come full circle to work on their production!

I’m working on a project to digitise six series of English language teaching textbooks which has been brilliant! It’s a large-scale project with a big team and I’m really proud of how well we’re working together.

I have recently graduated from university and Haremi is my first role in the publishing industry. I am enjoying the opportunity to gain knowledge and experience of the various steps of digital publishing through a project that involves developing a bank of exam questions.

I am enjoying the breadth of material and subjects I work with as it has been fun to re-learn topics I used to enjoy at school! I am proud to be working on such a useful and important educational tool.

As a Project Coordinator I've worked on some large, complex projects and it's always a brilliant feeling when you can look back knowing that you've helped to create and deliver a large amount of bespoke content.

My role is interesting as you are able to have an overview of all aspects of a project, while also being able to get involved with creating and checking individual pieces of content.

I started as an Editorial Assistant at Haremi in April 2022, having graduated from Loughborough University with a BSc in Psychology. Prior to joining I’d also completed some online courses in writing and copyediting before interning as a Digital Content Producer for an arts charity. Because of my background I really like supporting roles. Working as an EA means that most of what I do is assisting/supporting everyone else/facilitating projects, hopefully making everyone else’s role/day a little easier. Everyone here has been so friendly and quick to help so far, which has been fantastic.

I graduated with a degree in English Literature from the University of Sussex last year and my role with Haremi is the first position that I’ve had since graduating. Everyone at Haremi is really friendly, patient, and helpful which has made collaborative project work enjoyable even though I’m working remotely.

It’s been rewarding to work on a number of different projects within my first couple of weeks here, mostly getting to grips with the process of activity-building when digitizing English Language Teaching textbooks. It’s satisfying that the work I’ve been doing is making the existing educational exercises more interactive!

I have almost 30 years' experience in educational and children's publishing including roles as Editorial Manager Pearson, Senior Commissioning Editor at A&C Black and Publishing Manager at Macmillan Education. In my current role as Senior Project Manager, it's essential that I understand what's important to a customer about their project. Then the process will start to ensure we exceed their expectations.

Before joining Haremi I worked at Nelson Thornes for three years after gaining a PGCE in Primary Education and working as a resource developer. I was keen to work with content more closely and have since worked on fast-paced, complex and absolutely fascinating projects.

I really enjoy getting to work with a wide range of people within the publishing world. One day I may be helping an author expand on an idea they’ve had and the next I may be working creatively with typesetters and designers to develop artwork styles.

I have been working on a project where we are digitising English language textbooks for students in Spain. I’ve recently joined Haremi as Office & Finance Manager. My employment background is in finance and law, so I understand the importance of publishing quality learning materials, having studied law through correspondence courses over five years to qualify as a litigation lawyer.

I’m very much enjoying my role at Haremi as I’ve found the team to have a relaxed but efficient ethos, nurturing employees, and treating both suppliers and customers with equal support and respect.

I joined Haremi in 2013 and I am a Senior Project Manager and Editorial Delivery Lead. I lead on the learning and development sector of the business. I have worked on the Exam Wizard project for Pearson Edexcel since my first day at Haremi. I am proud of the team who have worked on this with me since the beginning and of the partnership we have developed with our client: one that is based on complete trust and integrity.

I enjoy working with such a great team of colleagues. I also love the variety of the work we do at Haremi, from project managing to recruiting and training new members of staff.

I’ve spent 14 years working in publishing with experience in educational and English language teaching (ELT). I’m CELTA qualified and have worked mainly in ELT and Education development editor roles before Haremi. As Product Manager, I really like working on a wide variety of projects where I must think on my feet and make decisions quickly. I love having a lot of responsibility and working with so many different authors across my project list. I also particularly enjoy developing new concepts and putting together proposals for clients.

I am an experienced editor of science material for schools, covering national and international work. I have also taught science in a variety of secondary schools in the UK, and tutored and mentored many students.

At Haremi I am privileged to be involved with training and supporting the community of editorial assistants and I enjoy working as part of a team on different projects, solving problems that may arise together.

I have worked in the publishing industry for over 15 years: first as an editor at Edward Elgar Publishing and then worked for Scholastic working on their primary education books and digital materials as a Development Editor. I joined Haremi in 2016 as an Editorial Manager and have worked on lots of different projects on various subjects. I enjoy the good balance of using the skills and knowledge I already have, with learning brand new skills required for each new project.

I joined Haremi after graduating from university and I've worked in many roles from content production, editorial and now project management. The variety at Haremi is great; I enjoy working on lots of different projects and I really do learn something new every day. I’ve worked on many projects for many clients over my 10 years at Haremi so I can bring that experience to new projects that I manage.

I've managed a lot of Maths and Science projects over the last few years, so I’ve also built up good relationships with a lot of freelance subject specialists.

I was a Secondary Mathematics teacher for 15 years (9 years spent teaching abroad in Dubai, so working in publishing has been a big career change for me.) The people at Haremi have been great at helping me learn new skills and become acquainted with the publishing world.

There seem to be so many different and interesting projects going on at Haremi all the time. I am also an advanced SCUBA diver and have completed over 50 dives!

I started my career in academic publishing as a Production Editor and then had a brief spell as an English teacher. I went back into publishing as a Development Editor and then worked freelance for several years. One of things that I enjoy most about working at Haremi is the fantastic teamwork.

I have recently worked on the development of a complete maths course for use in Egypt. This required the team to pull out all the stops to produce huge volumes of complex materials in a short amount of time. After working freelance for several years, working with a great team has been the best thing.

Accuracy and quality are at the centre of everything I do. I'm always looking for solutions to problems I encounter in my project work that will in the long run help speed up the process.

I have worked in publishing now for over 10 years and love that I get to develop a wide range of products for many different customers.

I studied languages and linguistics at university, followed by an MA in history. I was a teacher of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) for 10 years, during which time I worked with students and teachers from all over the world. My work as a teacher has given me experience of using educational materials similar to those that Haremi has a hand in producing.

EFL is a dynamic field and it is incredibly valuable to have access to varied and versatile educational resources that can be adapted to different learning styles in the classroom.

I have experience in both the education sector and publishing industry. I initially trained and worked as a primary school teacher before moving into educational publishing. I have worked as a senior editor/editorial manager for publishers such as Pearson, DK and York Press producing materials for the UK and international markets.

At Haremi, the feeling of teamwork and support throughout the company is amazing, and everyone is willing to jump in and help where needed. I also really enjoy that the role is so varied. I could be scheduling one minute, and editing an artwork brief the next.

I have worked in learning for over 20 years and I have had various editorial roles during this time: at a history publishing company, educational publisher and now Haremi. I am most proud of my work on the re-editions of the UK's best-selling Psychology series. It was immensely rewarding to work on such fantastic content, especially as a Psychology graduate. I only wish I had had similar resources when studying!

My passion is education and helping people learn. I started working in e-learning more than 30 years ago, creating some of the most innovative digital products in the UK for an educational publisher. I founded Haremi in 2006 to increase my reach to more learners in the UK and around the world. Haremi grew to become the UK’s largest educational content creation service, with incredible customer retention rates and world class customer satisfaction scores.

In 2021 I stepped back from running the business and created an Employee Employment Trust, so that all employees of Haremi owned part of the company, building on its legacy and enabling even greater impact within education.

I was a freelance proofreader for 8 years and worked on a variety of titles from self-publishing, to working for Harper Collins and Hodder & Stoughton. I am an avid reader and book blogger in my spare time and am lucky enough to receive countless proof copies of books from publishers to read and review.

I have worked in publishing since 1996 and, after being freelance for 13 years, I joined Haremi as an Editorial Manager. I am someone who is always trying to pre-empt issues to make the process as smooth as possible, which is why I like working as part of a team, especially with our talented in-house editors and editorial assistants as the people at Haremi are adaptable, hardworking problem solvers.

Before starting my job at Haremi, I worked as an editor’s assistant for a magazine where I used to develop, research, and write features. I always aim to add value for our clients by providing an excellent customer service alongside consistent and high-quality publishing services.

I believe that all the work that we put into our projects demonstrates the power of teamwork, hard work and efficiency. Also, the fact that we are creating and digitising content that help students learn and develop themselves gives our work such a great purpose.

I have worked in educational publishing since 2009 and my proudest achievement at Haremi is when I managed the production of a substantial blended learning course, which comprised 45 printed student books and 48 e-learning modules for a professional qualification provider. The publication dates were challenging and there were many interdependent components. As a team we worked brilliantly together to deliver a unique and well received suite of highly engaging resources, on time and on budget.

Prior to joining Haremi I worked part-time as an English tutor for secondary school pupils and developed a marketing course for a music marketing company, so I had some experience of producing educational content.
